Our
challenge in designing the pit was the low ceiling height. The home was built
in the 1940’s and had a six foot six inch ceiling height. The client used
half the basement for this Home Theater and it is designed in three sections.
We excavated out the front section (about 16’x 14’) to get a full
eight-foot ceiling height. The new Teak hardwood floor is on piers and an irrigation/sump
system under it also eliminated the client’s water problem!
