As our eyes continue to look from the entrance to the opposite wall we see
a magnificent mural by our artist Beth. On our client’s request, Beth
created a perfect design for the home theater and incorporated “little
things” of special meaning to Derl and Diane.
Critical in the design was the elimination
of support columns between the rooms. It surely would have spoiled this
view. Rather than box the new reinforced beam, we dropped the ceiling to
the beams height. The pocket in the
back room is the original ceiling height. We then were able to slope the
ceiling upwards to focus the eye on the screen wall and conceal the video
projector. It also gave us the smooth transition we wanted between the
two rooms.
