On
this project, we were given a lower level of a lovely home to develop. Not only
did our clients, Jeff and Connie want us to design a Home Theater but also finish
the entire lower level in the same style as our Home Theater design. This incorporated
a great room, with bar, storage areas and a bathroom. We were happy to accommodate
their request. The lower level had double French doors on either side of the
room, which exited to the in-ground pool, which overlooked one of the best views
I have ever seen. The home has a perfect location and is located at a high elevation.
The southern exposure boasts a 100-mile plus view encompassing the Susquehanna
River and the beautiful Pennsylvania mountain ranges. We felt this spectacular
view was our competition! As is typical, we had to work around a series of post
running down the center of the room. Here is a before picture of what would
be the screen wall.
Note the radon fan and pipes on the left we choose
to work around, rather than move and the mentioned posts on the right
Heres the After of the same area.
We used 45 degree wings to the left and right of the screen. Jeff
and Connie also opted for our unique velvet lined shadow box for the screen.
We also did a pocket ceiling, not only to conceal the pipes but also create
interest. The columns to the right allowed us to frame the existing posts
while maximizing the width of the room.
